To play a file that is stored on your Smartphone, but that is
not in a library, do the following: On the Library screen,
select
Menu
, and then select
Open File
. Select the item that
you want to play, and then select
Play
(or select
Menu
and
then select
Queue Up
).
Quickly Controlling the Playback
On the Playback screen, you can use the hardware buttons to quickly control the following:
To toggle between pause and play, press the Navigation stick.
To skip to the next item in a playlist, push the Navigation stick toward the right.
To skip to the beginning of the playing item, push the Navigation stick toward the left.
To skip to the previous item in a playlist, push the Navigation stick toward the left twice
quickly.
To increase or decrease the volume of a playing file, push the Navigation stick up/down.
To turn the sound on or off quickly (that is, turn mute on or off), press the
#
key.

On any screen, you can use the
Volume
control to increase or decrease the volume of a playing
file. However, this control affects all sounds on your device, not just the sounds of Windows
Media Player.
You can assign tasks to the hardware buttons. (See “Customizing Windows Media Settings”
later on for more information.)
