3.5 Aggregator End Point Mode
In this application, the MC12000 chassis is fitted with a WCC-1400, 4 port E1 Aggregation
module. The Management Module in the MC12000 has the aggregate data stream
connected to one of the front panel Gigabit Ethernet ports, and this stream is fed across
the backplane to each individual modules.
The aggregate traffic stream consists of three VLAN’s
VID 101
Management VLAN used to manage the MC12000 and remote
WCM1100 units
VID 1000
User Data stream, low priority traffic such as HTTP
VID 1001
VOIP Data, high priority
As the external equipment does not apply priority to the aggregate traffic, the priority
override function in the MC12000 Manager is used to promote the Management and VOIP
traffic to high priority.
In the WCC-1400 Aggregator the traffic stream is then switched to the relevant remote
WCM1100 based on the MAC address. Each traffic stream is transported across the E1
link using an aggregation S-Tag to form QinQ traffic streams.
The WCM1100 units are configured in Aggregator End Point mode, which automatically
configures the unit into S-Tag/QinQ mode and enables the auto discovery protocol through
which the aggregation tag is discovered and automatically configured.
The IP management module of the WCM1100 is configured to use VID 101 to extract the
management traffic, leaving the user data and high priority VOIP traffic to pass out of the
LAN ports.
