5.2.9.9 Hello Time
The Hello Time parameter defines the period between configuration BPDU transmissions
on designated ports.
5.2.9.10 Forward Delay
The Forward Delay is the timeout used by a port which is not receiving BPDU’s before a
port will transition from DISCARDING to FORWARDING.
The allowed range is 4 to 30 seconds.
When RSTP is enabled, and a port is connected to a non RSTP port, such as a PC it will
not receive BPDU’s. It will then wait for 15 seconds before transitioning to the Forwarding
state and passing traffic.
PortFast may be used on ports not connected to RSTP enabled devices to bypass the
Forward Delay time on startup.
5.2.9.11 Tx Hold
The transmit Hold count is used to limit the transmission rate.
5.2.9.12 Version
The version selects the protocol that is running, currently this may be RSTP or the older,
and less efficient STP.
