N2 Dialer Module—N2 Dialer Module (NDM) 37
Initiate a dial-out from the local NDM to the remote by commanding the dial command
point ADI-65 to the remote site index value. Note that the NDM starts the dial sequence
by first sending the modem prefix to dialing parameters, and then initiates the dial
sequence to the remote facility. Verify connection by noting the NDM and controllers at
the remote site come online and point values show valid data.
This connection to the remote site is maintained for ten minutes, the default disconnect
delay time, or until ADI-65 is commanded to a value of 0, which causes an immediate
disconnect.
The remote NDM automatically dials in to the local NDM upon power up of the modem
as described above. When not connected to the local NDM, the remote NDM scans the
remote N2 Bus. The remote NDM dials in if a:
●
critical alarm or change-of-state is noted
●
remote device goes offline
●
remote device comes online
Test the dial-in process by either generating a critical binary or analog alarm,
disconnecting a controller from the remote N2 Bus, or powering down a controller.
Verify that the remote NDM and other remote devices come online while the
disconnected controller does not.
All remote N2 devices, including the remote NDMs, can be downloaded, uploaded, and
commissioned using the following methods:
Direct Access: The PC with the Configuration Tool is accessing a local or remote NDM
by directly connecting to an N2 Bus via a
MM-CVT101-0.
Auxiliary: The PC with the Configuration Tool is dialing a remote NDM (requires
HVAC PRO for Windows Release 6.00 or later), or is connected via a null modem cable.
OWS Access: The Metasys OWS is used to initiate the connection. See the
Downloading with Metasys section, immediately following this section, for a description.
See the Controller Access Technical Bulletin in the HVAC PRO for Windows User’s
Manual for procedural details.
Once the connection is established between the PC with the Configuration Tool and the
remote NDM, it is possible to upload, download, and commission supported devices on
the remote N2 Bus--including the remote NDM.
Note:
If the remote NDM is downloaded, the call terminates when the remote NDM
resets. After the reset, the remote NDM initiates a dial in, starting with the first
telephone number in its data base.
