Batteries and alternator
The on-board electrical system is supplied by an alter-
nator. A low-maintenance battery serves as an energy
store. The on-board electrical system is also
supported by an energy manager to ensure that the
best possible energy balance is always maintained.
A battery sensor monitors the energy balance at all
times and adjusts it to requirements. This ensures that
the engine can always be started and all consumers
receive a reliable power supply.
The G 63 AMG is equipped with a start/stop function
which necessitates a second vehicle battery with
12 Ah. This is located in the rear footwell.
On all other variants, a 1.2 Ah backup battery is
installed here, which is used for the shift-by-wire func-
tion.
