How to Operate the MX122, con’t
USB Drive Playback
Connect the USB Memory Device directly to the MX122
Rear Panel iPod/USB Connector. To playback music
and still images from the USB Memory Device through the
MX122 perform the following steps:
1. Rotate the INPUT Control on the Front Panel to se-
lect iPod/USB or press the iPod/USB Push-button
on the Remote Control.
2. Use the Directional Push-buttons to select the de
-
sired music track or picture. Refer to figure 43.
3. Press the ENTER Push-button to start playback of
music or still image. Refer to figure 44.
4. To change selection of the music track or still im
-
age, press the BACK Push-button and then perform
steps 2 and 3 again.
When using the USB Memory Device the following
are important things to keep in mind:
5. If the USB memory device is divided into multiple
partitions, only the top partition can be selected.
6. The MX122 is compatible with MP3 files con
-
forming to “MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3” standards.
7. Only USB memory devices conforming to mass
storage class and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)
standards can be played on the MX122.
8. The MX122 is compatible with USB memory de
-
vices in “FAT16” or “FAT32” format.
9. The MX122 plays back image (JPEG) files in the
orientation in which they are stored in the folder.
10.
It is not possible to connect and use a computer via
the USB port of this unit using a USB cable.

coded in WMA format when ripped from a CD, etc. on a
computer may be copyright protected, depending on the
computer’s settings.
