Martin Audio Part Nos. ASF12030 and ASF12031
In situations where the MLA Mini cabinets are flown but the MSX sub is ground stacked, a longer
cable loom must be run from the ground (or stage level) up to the array. There are two ways to
achieve this. The simpler method is to use the standard ASF12026 loom and extend it (at MSX
end) using standard NL8 to NL8 cables; these will be a standard item in many rental companies’
inventory.
Neutrik NL8MM in-line connector barrels can be used to extend the standard loom (see below).
The second, and possibly more elegant solution, is to use Tourmate adaptors (Martin Audio Part
Nos. ASF12030 and ASF12031). These allow the use of a single 8-channel Tourmate cable
between the adaptors. These use the very common Socapex pattern, and cables of various
lengths are readily available. Martin Audio’s Tourmate adaptors are rated to IP67 so are suitable
for outdoor use.
Martin Audio Part No. ASF12030 is an adaptor with two NL8 connectors wired to a Tourmate
19-pin Female connector. This can to be connected to the MSX sub. The connectors are colour
coded orange and green as with the ASF12026 loom.
At the MLA Mini end, Martin Audio Part No. ASF12031 can be used: this adaptor is a Tourmate
19-pin male connector wired to four Neutrik NL4s. The connectors have staggered lengths and
colour coding as per the ASF12026.
Tourmate or Socapex cables of any necessary length can be used between the pairs of adaptors.
A further advantage of this approach is that the cable to a flown array now comprises a single
cable, thus the loom remains discreet.
Alternatively, the adaptors can even be plugged directly together when using ground stacked or
pole mounted configurations, thus requiring only one cable type to be carried.
