Option 9 uses the same U-Net topology as Option 8, but an MLA Master Rack replaces the
Merlin. The rack’s wireless router now replaces the Ethernet connection to the laptop, and the
laptop may be used anywhere in the venue provided it is within wireless range. Note also now
that as the breakout panel in the MLA Master rack is fitted with Lemo connectors instead of
Etherconns, the RJ45-to-U-Net barrels are no longer required.

This shows the same U-Net topology again, but here the Wi-Fi antenna is in an FOH Rack at the
mix position. Connection between the MLA Master Rack and the Front of House Rack is via a
single twisted pair cable, which will typically be a spare channel of the audio multicore cable.
This arrangement overcomes the problem of degraded wireless access when the venue is full.
