Feature Overview
Ethernet Network Port
The unit has one available Ethernet port on the main circuit board inside (see “Main
Circuit Board” on page 21).
There is a gigabit Ethernet port on RJ-45 connectors with LEDs to indicate the status of
the connection. It provides a 10/100/1000 BaseT auto-negotiated Ethernet connection on
a standard network pinout. This Ethernet port (0/0 Network) is the primary network port.
Note:
The second Ethernet port is reserved for HDoC and PoE connectivity and not
available for other use.
The Ethernet Network port has colored LEDs that indicate the connection status.
•
Amber LED (on): A link is established but there is no activity.
•
Amber LED (off): There is no link or there is activity on the established link.
•
Green LED (on): A 1000 BaseT link is negotiated on the port.
•
Green LED (off): A 10/100 BaseT link is negotiated on the port.
Two Internal USB Ports
The unit has two USB ports available on the main circuit board
inside (see “Main Circuit Board” on page 21).
Two USB ports provide connections for external peripherals,
provide up to 500 mA per port to power peripherals with a USB
cable, and support USB version 2.0.
The internal USB ports are numbered 3 and 4 (USB 1 and 2 are located on the front of the model).
USB 4 is connected to the LAN USB adapter (see next section).
Note:
For details on the front USB ports, see “Two External USB Ports” on page 20.
LAN USB Adapter
There is a LAN USB adapter included with the unit. To use it, you must connect it to USB port 4,
inside the unit. You can secure the cable with a tie-wrap over to the cable routing box.
This Ethernet connection allows you to set up an independent network segment matching the
subnet of the POS network.
Note:
The POS network service is only available on this USB port (USB 4), located inside the unit
on the main circuit board. USB 4 is the port closest to the circuit board.
This separate network eliminates camera traffic on the POS network and keeps the POS network
separate from any other networks.
This port is configured using the Administrator Console software (for more information, see the
Administrator Console User Manual
).
