4 Touch the [Next] symbol.
Emptying of tank
1 Disconnect all heat exchangers which are connected to the patient water
circuit and/or the cardioplegia water circuit, and connect the supplied cleaning
connectors instead.
2 Touch the [Next] symbol and wait until the melting process is complete.
▶ The HCU 40 melts the ice block and adjusts the temperature of the tank
water to 20°C. Duration: 30 up to a maximum of 75 minutes (depending
on the amount of ice present and the power supply).
3 If there were no tubes connected to the
HCU 40 during melting, connect a tube
to the outlet of the patient water circuit
and a second tube to the outlet of the
cardioplegia water circuit.
Or
If the tubes for the patient and
cardioplegia water circuits were
connected to the cleaning connectors on
the HCU 40 during melting, remove
these cleaning connectors.

4 Place the open ends of the tubes (without touching any contaminated
surfaces) in an outflow and open the stopcocks of the patient and cardioplegia
water circuits.
5 Touch the [Next] symbol to start pumping.
▶ The HCU 40 pumps the water out.
6 Wait until the HCU 40 is empty.
