Hoist Directional Control Valve
The hoist directional control valve is used to control the
operation of the hoist. It is a four-way, pilot operated valve
and is mounted on the right side of the turntable.
BOOM REMOVAL
NOTE:
The boom, without any boom extension, weighs
about 10,577 kg (23,320 lbs).
1.
Extend and set the outriggers to level the crane and
ensure the boom is fully retracted and in a horizontal
position over the front of the crane.
2.
Counterweight must be removed from the crane.
3.
Rotate turntable so boom is over the front of the crane
and engage the turntable lock pin.
4.
Fully retract and lock the telescopic sections.
5.
If installed, remove the boom extension and auxiliary
nose.
6.
Remove the hook block or overhaul ball and wind all the
wire rope onto the hoist drum.
7.
Elevate boom to allow access to the telescope hose
disconnects.
8.
Disconnect main telescope hydraulic lines. Tag and
disconnect the telescopic hydraulic lines from the
compact block, if equipped, also disconnect the
hydraulic boom extension hydraulic lines from the
compact block.
NOTE:
At this point you can continue to remove the boom
or choose to remove the equipment that is attached
to the boom to prevent it from being damaged. You
can also choose to remove the attached equipment
after the boom has been removed and is supported
on cribbing.
9.
Lower the boom to zero degrees.
10.
Move a crane hook to the front above the lift cylinder.
Attach a strap under the lift cylinder and lift it
(Figure 4-5).
NOTE:
Install a piece of wood to prevent damaging the
electrical harness as shown in the red circle
(Figure 4-5).
11.
Prior to disconnecting the lift cylinder, install blocking
under the lift cylinder.
12.
Lower the boom so that the lift cylinder is supported on
the blocking.
13.
Remove the bolt that secures the pin (1), (Figure 4-6).
14.
Unscrew stop bolts (1), (Figure 4-8) on the other side of
boom.
15.
Attach two cranes to the boom (Figure 4-7).
CAUTION
Injury Hazard!
Wear gloves when handling wire rope, metal slivers and/
or cuts may result.
