2. Clean around the fi lter head (A).
3. Remove fi lter (B).
4. Clean gasket mating surface.
5. Apply a thin fi lm of clean oil to the gasket on the new
fi lter. Refer to
8.2.4 Filter Part Numbers, page 467
for
recommended oil fi lter to use.
6. Screw the new fi lter onto the fi lter mount until the
gasket contacts the fi lter head.
7. Tighten the fi lter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand.
IMPORTANT:
Do
NOT
use a fi lter wrench to install the oil fi lter.
Overtightening can damage the gasket and fi lter.
8. Properly dispose of used oil fi lter.

Adding Engine Oil
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key
from ignition before leaving operator's seat for any reason.
1. Stop the engine and remove the key. Wait about fi ve minutes.
2. Open the hood, refer to
5.2.1 Opening Hood (Lower Position), page 306
.
3. Remove fi ller cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise.
4. Carefully pour in the new oil. A funnel is recommended
to avoid spillage. Refer to
8.2.3 Lubricants, Fluids, and
System Capacities, page 466
for oil speci fi cations.
CAUTION
Do NOT fill above the HIGH mark.
5. Replace oil fi ller cap (A) and turn it clockwise until snug.

page 335
.
7. Close the hood, refer to
5.2.2 Closing Hood (Lower
Position), page 307

IMPORTANT:
Do
NOT
run engine with air cleaner disconnected or disassembled.
