Telegram over Ethernet

The software implementation over the Ethernet interface provides also a method
to receive data telegrams. All user data telegrams described in 8.3 can be polled.
The port and telegram can be configured in the web-interface, see figure17.
On Windows operating systems the Nmap/ Ncat binaries can be downloaded
and installed form the server

http://nmap.org/ncat/

. The web-page provides also

various binaries and source codes for other operating systems.
After installation and setup the data telegram can be accessed by entering the
polling command:
ncat <IP-address> <Port>
For example:
ncat 192.168.100.101 11000
or the old release from ncat:
netcat 192.168.100.101 11000

The port number is up to firmware release 0.726 #8000, after that (December
2014) it has been changed to port #11000 and with the latest firmware releases
it can be set.

The raw data telegram is still uuencoded like in the RS485 transfer mode and
must uudecoded before it can be read.

NetCDF file tools

There are different tool sets available to handle, modify or merge NetCDF files.
Especially when the AFD mode is used the merging utility

ncrcat.exe

is very

powerful to generate 24h files from single 5 minute files. The same command
can be used also to merge single NetCDF measuring files from raw data tele-
grams to daily files.
ncrcat is part of the nco tool set and can be downloaded from:
http://nco.sourceforge.net/nco.html

Windows users:
The direct usage of the command ncrcat.exe in the windows command shell is
limited due to restriction with wild-cards and the total length of the command
line. We recommend to download the git-bash from http://git-scm.com/down-
loads.
Example:
The following command line allows to merge all NetCDF files located in the
directory data from instrument CHM123456 and from 6 April 2015. The output
file is out.nc in the example.
