6.2 Electrical Installation
CAUTION
There is risk of damaging the Cloud Height Meter!
Work for connection of the CHM 15k to electric power supply may only
be carried out by an electrician of G. Lufft GmbH or another specialist
electrician. Failure to comply will void any claims of guarantee or war-
ranty.
NOTE
It is the operator's responsibility to create all preconditions that are
required for CHM 15k Cloud Height Meter connections according to
EN 61016-1.
Installed connections must be in accordance with the valid national regulations.
The earth wire shall not be extended to more than 3 meters. In case a longer
wire is needed the cable must be replaced with a higher cross section wire.
Electrical connection of the CHM 15k requires non-detachable cabling
as follows:
1. 10 mm² grounding cable (1-pole, green-yellow), 3 meters.
2. Data cable (RS 485 2 wire(black cable)) ; A (+) conductor: green, B (-)
conductor: red, earth-ground: cable shield, 10 meters.
Data Cable (RS485 4 wire cable) ; A (-) conductor: yellow; B (+) conduc-
tor: green; RS485 - GND: white & brown; earth connected to CHM housing
only: cable shield; (see figure 10); cable length 10 m.
3. Data cable (Ethernet) ; The cable is equipped with a standard RJ45 plug to
connect to a PC, hub or switch, standard length is 10m.
4. DSL option ; instead of the Ethernet cable (POS 3); a 2 wire cable that must
be connected to DSL modem as shown in figure 11, cable length flexible.
5. 230 V power supply: N conductor: blue; L conductor: brown; earth ground-
conductor: green-yellow, 10 meters.
Fig. 10: Connection data cable RS485 (4 wire). Designations RDA(-), RDB(+)
are used in different ways by RS485 interface suppliers. Lufft is using
the notation from B&B in this manual.
