Handling of the Light Guide
Wear UV protective glasses and UV protective gloves!
4.5.1 Handling Distance
Generally a distance of 10 - 15 mm from the work piece is ideal. In some cases, the distance
should be greater; in others the distance could be smaller.
If the distance is too small, the adhesive vaporizes. As a result, the lens of the Light Guide will
get contaminated and the performance will deteriorate.
If the distance is too great, the performance will be insufficient to get a curing result.
The greater the distance, the greater the area of exposure, the smaller the intensity of the lamp.
4.5.2 Handling Attitude
Handle the Light Guide so that the cone of light shows away from the body.
Danger of glare!
A better way is to mount the Light Guide (reference section 4.5.2), and place the component to
be cured under the ultraviolet light.
For additional protection, a UV curtain should be mounted between the UV work area and the
adjacent workplace.
4.5.3 Removal of the Light Guide
• Remove the light guide by firmly gripping the strain relief near the light guide retainer and pull
out firmly.
Never pull on the jacketing portion of the light guide!

Startup in Cold Conditions
• Switch on the power switch 10 on the backside of the unit.
The green LED “U” will light up on the front panel and the fan will begin to operate. You may leave
the main switch permanently in the on position and turn the power on and off with the main supply.
• Press and hold the green lamp ignition button 8 until it lights up.
As soon as the lamp has been ignited and stabilized, the ignition button will light up, and you
may release it. After ignition this button is without function. After approximately 3 minutes, the
lamp reaches its rated power of 200 W, and the yellow LED “P” will light up.
4.7
Startup in Hot Conditions
After the unit is switched off, wait at least 3 minutes prior to reignition.
Frequent on/off switching results in premature deterioration of the lamp.
Do not switch off for idle periods of less than 3 hours.
