3.3 Step and Direction Inputs
The Step and Direction inputs provide an
alternative method of controlling the lens
position. Other methods are using the
analog input or the industrial network
interface.
The Step and Direction inputs are
differential receivers to control the position
of the lens.

Using the Step and Direction
Option
Before use, Step and Direction must
be enabled and configured using
FiberMINI
® Monitor. See Section
4.5.3 .
If the Step and Direction
inputs are disconnected,
make sure Step/Direction is
disabled in Settings to
prevent inadvertent
movement of the lens.
The signals have a negative clamping
voltage of -0.4V and a positive
clamping voltage of 6.2V with respect
to ground.
Exceeding the voltage limits
may damage the input circuit.
The Ready Out signal is the same
Ready output that is available on the
terminal block.
Ready Out connects to the Output
Common of the terminal block through
a solid state relay when there are no
faults present on the head.

illustrate the step and direction pin
outs.

The step size and polarity of the
Direction input are selectable using
the settings in FiberMINI
®
Monitor.
Moving the lens using FiberMINI ®
Monitor or the triggering Move input
zeroes the step counter.

Steps accumulate relative to this
position.

The resulting value is displayed as
the Target Position.

If the Target Position goes
negative or exceeds the
Maximum Position, steps
continue to accumulate, but
the lens position remains at
the travel limit and the
READY signal turns OFF.
o
To keep the READY signal
ON regardless of Target
Position, enable Maintain
Ready in Settings.
