Hydraulic Hook-Up to Skid Steer

!

DANGER!

To prevent serious injury or death:  

•

Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate skin. 

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when 
working with hydraulic systems. Use a piece of cardboard 
or wood rather than hands when searching for leaks. If 
hydraulic fluid is injected into the skin or eyes, it must be 
treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury within a 
few hours or gangrene may result. DO NOT DELAY.

•

All guards and shields must be installed and in good 

working condition while operating implement.

!

WARNING!

To prevent serious injury or death:  

Make sure hydraulic hoses are properly routed so that they 
will not become pinched or kinked while operating equipment. 
A pinched or kinked hose can burst and leak hydraulic fluid.

NOTE:  

Skid steer hydraulics can vary from one 

machine to another. Be sure to review “Hydraulic 
Hook-up” in your Skid Steer Operator’s Manual 
before hooking hydraulic hoses to the Skid Steer.

Refer to Figure 1-13:

1.

Attach quick release couplers (male #2 & female #3) 
to the skid steer quick release couplers. 

2.

From inside the skid steer cab, lift Post Hole Digger 
up until auger is off the ground 1 to 2 inches.

3.

With skid steer set at an idle, engage hydraulics to 
view auger rotation. The auger should rotate 
clockwise when looking down from above. If auger 
rotates counterclockwise, switch quick release 
couplers on hydraulic hoses (#4 & #5) as follows:

a. Disengage hydraulics.

b. Lower lift arms until quick release hitch is resting 

on the ground, engage park brake, turn off engine 
and remove key to prevent unauthorized starting.

c. If included, raise seat bar and move controls until 

both lock.

d. Use grab-handles, steps, and skid-resistant 

surfaces when getting on and off the loader.

e. Disconnect hose couplers, switch male 

coupler (#2) with female coupler (#3) on hydraulic 
hoses (#4 & #5) and then reconnect hoses to the 
quick release couplers.

Secure hydraulic hoses as needed with zip ties (#1) 
to keep hoses from becoming pinched, stretched, 
and/or kinked.
