Auger Assembly
Refer to Figure 1-2:

WARNING!
To prevent serious injury or death:
•
It is the operator’s responsibility to keep others away from
the Post Hole Digger while auger is rotating. A person’s
body and/or clothing can become entangled in the auger
causing serious injury or death. Anyone helping should be
kept a safe distance (a minimum of 10 feet) from the auger
while rotating.
•
Do not install a bolt that is longer than what was originally
supplied with the auger. A protruding fastener is more likely
to grab loose clothing and may cause serious injury or
death.
1. Slide auger tube (#4) over gearbox output shaft (#1)
until mounting holes are in alignment.
2. Insert bolts (#2) and secure with Locknuts (#3).
Torque locknuts to the proper torque.
3. Continue with “Hydraulic Hook-Up to Tractor” on
this page or “Hydraulic Hook-Up to Skid Steer” on
page 17.

DANGER!
To prevent serious injury or death:
•
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate skin.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when
working with hydraulic systems. Use a piece of cardboard
or wood rather than hands when searching for leaks. If
hydraulic fluid is injected into the skin or eyes, it must be
treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury within a
few hours or gangrene may result. DO NOT DELAY.
NOTE: Use a hoist or other lifting device to lift Post
Hole Digger. If lifting device is not available, attach
Post Hole Digger to a tractor or skid steer and use
equipment hydraulics to raise unit

WARNING!

All guards and shields must be installed and in good
working condition while operating attachment to avoid
injury or death.
•
Make sure hydraulic hoses are properly routed so that they
will not become pinched or kinked while operating
equipment. A pinched or kinked hose can burst and leak
hydraulic fluid.

Refer to Figure 1-13:
1. Connect quick release couplers (#1) to the tractor’s
high pressure outlets.(Quick release couplers
supplied by customer.)
2. While seated in the tractor seat, lift Post Hole Digger
up until auger is off the ground 1 to 2 inches.
3. With tractor set at an idle, engage hydraulics to view
auger rotation. The auger should rotate clockwise
when looking down from above. If auger rotates
counterclockwise, switch couplers at the duplex out
as follows:
a. Disengage hydraulics, set tractor in park or set
park brake, lower Post Hole Digger until auger is
resting on the ground, shut tractor engine off, and
remove switch key before dismounting tractor.
b. Switch quick release couplers at the duplex outlet
on the tractor.
4. Return to the tractor and repeat steps 9-10 to verify
auger is rotating properly.
5. Bucket mount & skid/loader hitch mount only:
Secure hydraulic hoses along the loader arms as
needed with zip ties (#2) to keep hoses from
becoming pinched, stretched, and/or kinked.
