PRESSURE RELEASE METHODS (MANUAL)
QUICK RELEASE
This method releases pressure in the form of steam in just a couple of minutes. When cooking has
finished, you can release the built-up pressure manually by turning the Steam Release Handle
to the "Venting" position. Always be cautious, protective gloves or a long utensil as a
stream of hot steam will shoot out of the valves. Once steam no longer escapes from the
vent and the Float Valve has dropped, you can now carefully open the Lid away from you.
Be mindful of any remaining steam, water, or oil as these may cause bums.
NATURAL RELEASE
This method is a much slower than the quick release method. When cooking has finished, let the
built-up pressure release on its own without turning the Steam Release Handle. This may take
10-40 minutes, or longer, depending on the amount of food in the cooker and the settings used.
You may wish to leave the Cooker on the Keep Warm setting while pressure is released, or you
can turn it off or unplug it so the contents will cool faster. Once the Float Valve drops down,
you can now carefully open the Lid away from you. As a precaution, you can turn the Steam
Release Handle to Venting to make sure all pressure has been completely released.
Typically, using the quick release method after 10-15 minutes of natural release will
have allowed enough time to pass so as not to affect the end result of the recipe.
