3. Loosen the four frontplate screws (1 in Fig. 10.2).
4. Remove the frontplate (2 in Fig. 10.2) and the gaskets (3,4 in Fig. 10.2).

Loosen the three printhead screws (7).
6. Loosen the two PIB screws (5).
7. Take the printhead (8) and PIB (6) out of the printhead housing. To prevent ink leakage: Leave the
tie-wrap in place and take care not to put stress on the printhead / ink tube connection.
8. Pull the PIB gently but firmly off the printhead connector.
9. Take the new PIB out of the anti-static bag.
10. Push the PIB gently but firmly in the printhead connector. Make sure the PIB is exactly in line with
the printhead and aligned with the printhead connector.
11. Place the printhead an PIB in position, place the printhead and PIB screws but do not tighten them.
12. Clean the frontplate and gaskets.
13. Place the gaskets and frontplate.
14.
Fasten the frontplate screws.
15. Fasten the printhead screws.
16. Fasten the PIB screws.
17. Connect the data cable and low ink connector to the PIB.
18.
Close the printhead housing. Refer to subsection 10.4.3.
19. Prime the excessive air from the system.
20. The printer is now ready to print.
10.4.5 Replacing the piezo printhead
CAUTION:
Read Printhead safety notes before handling the printhead, see subsection 10.4.1. Always ensure
anti-static precautions are observed when handling a printhead or it might be damaged.
Replacing the printhead means that also the ink tube connected to the printhead and the filter must be
replaced. The ink tube can is deformed when it is connected to the printhead fitting. Re-use of the ink tube
increases the risk of ink leakage.
1. Open the printhead housing. Refer to subsection 10.4.2.
2. Disconnect the data cable (1 in Fig. 10.3) and low ink connector (2 in Fig. 10.3) from the PIB.
3. Loosen the four frontplate screws (1 in Fig. 10.2).
4. Remove the frontplate (2 in Fig. 10.2) and the gaskets (3,4 in Fig. 10.2).
5. Loosen the three printhead screws (7 in Fig. 10.3).
6. Loosen the two PIB screws (5 in Fig. 10.3).
7. Take the printhead (8 in Fig. 10.3) and PIB (6 in Fig. 10.3) out of the printhead housing.

Pull the PIB gently but firmly off the printhead connector.
9. Disconnect the ink filter (3 in Fig. 10.3) by turning the couplings anti-clockwise .
10. Connect the new ink filter.
11. Take the new printhead out of the anti-static bag.

Cut down the new ink tube to the proper length, use the old ink tube as a reference.
13. Place the lure lock connector on the ink tube.
14. Push the PIB gently but firmly in the printhead connector. Make sure the PIB is exactly in line with
the printhead and aligned with the printhead connector.
15. Remove the nozzle protection cover. Do not touch the nozzle plate!
16. Place the printhead an PIB in position, place the printhead and PIB screws but do not tighten them.
