Sonar Head
The Sonar Head transmits and receives an acoustic pulse when deployed underwater.
The removable transducer on the Flexview is the first of its kind, offering field replacement
of a damaged transducer in the unlikely event of a catastrophic impact. This innovative
design also allows for transducer configurations to be exchanged, depending on the job
being performed. There are transducers with varying frequencies available for the Flexview.
The 500 kHz and 950-1400 kHz transducers are shown here.
The Sonar Head includes transmit and receive transducers and the electronics to generate
the transmit pulse and digitize the received signal. The sonar data is sent to the Sonar
Processor using a standard Ethernet link.
Caution
The Sonar Head’s black polyurethane transducer is delicate. Avoid impacts to the
transducer when installing or handling the Flexview.
Prolonged exposure to ultra-violet rays and excessive heat may damage the surface of
the polyurethane transducer face. Always store the Flexview in the provided equipment
case when not in use. If the Flexview is mounted on an ROV, cover the transducer when
not in use.
