User Shading
The User Shading function provides adjustments to improve image quality. Perform shading adjustment if
the image quality has deteriorated and does not improve even after cleaning inside the scanner. To
perform shading adjustment, you will need a sheet of the special shading paper that is included with the
scanner. See also
“Appendix 3—Shading Adjustment” on page 136.
1. Click the
User Shading
button on the User Utility window.
2. Click the
Start Shading
button on the User Shading dialog box. The User Shading utility will
guide you through the necessary steps.
3. Clean the inside of the scanner, refer to
“Cleaning Inside the Scanner” on page 77
. When
finished, click
OK
.
4. Turn over both the front and back reference plates to white. When finished, click
OK
. (The
“please reverse” message will not appear if the reference plates are already set to white.)
