Installing Blade (Fig. H, I, J, K)

Unplug the miter saw before changing/installing the blade.
 1. Install a 10 in. blade, making sure the rotation arrow on the

blade matches the clockwise rotation arrow on the upper

guard and the blade teeth are pointing downward. (Fig. K).
 2. Place the outer blade collar (6) against the blade (7) and

on the arbor. Thread the arbor bolt (4) onto the arbor in a

     counterclockwise direction. (Fig. K)
IMPORTANT: Make sure the flats of the blade collars are

engaged with the flats on the arbor shaft.
 3. Place the blade wrench on the arbor bolt (4).
 4. Press the arbor lock (5), holding it in firmly while turning

the blade counterclockwise. When arbor lock engages,

continue to press it in while tightening the arbor bolt

     securely. (Fig. J)
 5. Lower the blade guard (1) and rotate the cover plate (3)

back to its original position until the slot in the cover plate

engages with the cover plate screw (2). (Fig. H)
 6. Tighten the screw (2) with a Phillips screwdriver.
 7. Verify that the operation of the blade guard (1) does not

     bind or stick. (Fig. H)
 8. Be sure the arbor lock (5) is released so the blade turns

     freely. (Fig. J)

WARNING

                    • To avoid injury, never use the saw

without the cover plate secure in place. It keeps the

arbor bolt from falling out if it accidentally loosens, and

helps prevent the spinning blade from coming off the

saw.

 • Make sure the collars are clean and properly arranged.

Lower the blade into the lower table and check for any

contact with the base or the miter table by spinning the

    blade manually.

MOUNTING THE MITER SAW (FIG. L, M, N)

WARNING

To avoid injury from unexpected saw

                   movement:

• Before moving the saw, disconnect the power cord

from the outlet, and lock the cutting arm in the lower

position using the head lock down knob.

NOTE: The head lock down knob is for carrying or storing the

tool. It is not to be used for holding the saw while cutting.

Lower blade and press in head lock down knob to secure saw

for transport or storage.
 • Never carry the miter saw by the power cord or by the

switch handle. Carrying the tool by the power cord could

cause damage to the insulation or wire connections

resulting in electric shock or fire.
 • To avoid injury from flying debris, do not allow visitors to

    stand behind the saw.
 • Place the saw on a firm, level worksurface where there is

room for handling and properly supporting the workpiece.
 • Support the saw on a level work surface.
 • Bolt or clamp the saw to its support.
Place the saw in the desired location, either on a work bench

or recommended leg set. The base of the saw has

four mounting holes (10). (Fig. M)

Mounting instructions:

 1. For stationary use, place the saw in the desired location,

directly on a workbench where there is room for handling

and proper support of the workpiece. The base of the saw

has three mounting holes. Bolt the base of the miter saw

     (1) to the work surface (5), using the fastening method as

     shown in Fig. L.

NOTE: Mounting hardware is

not included with this tool. Bolts,

nuts, washers, and screws must

be purchased separately.

 2. For portable use, place the saw on a 3/4 in. thick piece of

     plywood. Bolt the base of

     the miter saw securely to

     the plywood using

     the mounting

     holes on the

     base.

     Use C-clamps

     to clamp this

     mounting board

     to a stable work

     surface at the

     worksite.
