Appendix A. Application notes
A.1. FingerVein Mag + Mifare electronics
We shall now see a relatively complete configuration based on FingerVein Online
electronics:
• FingerVein Online electronics with IP-to-Host connectivity.
• Biometric identification module - FingerVein.
• Magnetic band reader.
• Mifare, Kimaldi KRD13M reader.
The application to be specified could be used at the main entrance to a sports club. Each
member of the club has an access card, which was traditionally a magnetic band but that
is currently migrating to Mifare. To prevent impersonations, identification is biometric.
Therefore, users can either identify themselves directly (1:N) or present their old
magnetic band card or new Mifare card, which encodes the member number in its block
number 1.
The FingerVein Online electronics controls a two-way turnstile so that access to the
building involves a display and exit from the building involves pressing a button.
A.1.1. Hardware Connection
The FingerVein Online electronics is integrated inside a turnstile:
• 12 volt, 2 amp power supply for the entire machine:
- Connect the terminal power supply jack.
• Biometric module:
- Directly connect to the J12 - UART1-UI connector,
- and to the 12Vdc power supply.
• ABA-Track 2 Magstripe-compatible reader with Clock&Data output:
- Directly connect to J14 - C&D input or in terminal J10
1
.
• Mifare reader (Kimaldi KRD13Mv2):
1. J10 terminal only available in OEM version
