Engine coolant
僅 Use extreme care when removing the
inverter coolant reservoir cap. Wrap a
thick towel around it, and turn it
slowly to the first stop.
僅 Step back while the pressure is
released from the cooling system.
僅 When you are sure all the pressure
has been released, press down on the
cap, using a thick towel, and continue
turning to remove it.
僅 Check the condition and connections
of all cooling system hoses and heater
hoses.
僅 Replace any swollen or deteriorated
hoses.
僅 Check the coolant level. The coolant
level should be filled between MAX
and MIN marks on the side of the
coolant reservoir when the engine
room is cool.
僅 If the coolant level is low, add enough
specified coolant to provide protec
-
tion against freezing and corrosion.
Bring the level to MAX, but do not
overfill.
WARNING
Make sure the inverter coolant reservoir
cap is properly closed after refill or cool
-
ant.
Otherwise the inverter could be over
-
heated while driving.
1. Check if the inverter coolant reservoir
cap label is straight In front.
2. Make sure that the tiny protrusions
inside the inverter coolant reservoir
cap are securely interlocked.
WARNING
Removing inverter
coolant reservoir cap
Never remove the
inverter coolant reservoir cap while the
engine and radiator are hot. Hot coolant
and steam may blow out under pres
-
sure, causing serious injury.
Checking the inverter coolant
level (PHEV)
If frequent additions are required, we
recommend that the system be
inspected by a professional workshop.
Kia recommends to visit an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
The inverter coolant level should be in
between MAX and MIN when the engine
is cooled down. When the coolant level
(in the reservoir) is low, we recommend
that you contact your authorized Kia
dealer/service partner. Use only desig

nated coolant water for electric vehicles.
