N4375D Lightwave Component Analyzer, User’s Guide
RF Power
The recommended settings of Forward and Reverse RF power
depend on the type of measurement and your network
analyzer.
For EE measurements and electrical calibrations we
recommend - 12 dBm as RF power (Forward and Reverse).
For accurate electrical calibrations we recommend you use
these values. For EE- measurements you can increase these
to the maximum leveled output power.
For optical measurements (OE, EO and OO) we recommend
+5 dBm as Forward RF power and 0 dBm as Reverse RF
power. Changing the RF powers from the values given here
may affect factory calibration of the optical test set. If you
change these values, we recommend you use a "User
calibration".
Forward RF Power [dBm]
Sets the RF power level for the source port(s).
For balanced measurements (on 4- port network analyzers),
Ports 2 and 3 of the network analyzer are forward for EO
measurements and reverse for OE measurements.
Increasing the forward RF power for OE measurements
increases the optical modulation amplitude.
Reverse RF Power [dBm]
Sets the RF power level for the receiver port(s).
We recommend the factory calibrated default value for the
best results.
To reset to the factory default, leave the text box empty or
enter a value less than - 200 dBm.
RF Switches
Source Switch
• Select “Intern” to switch the source RF signal from the
network analyzer to the EO modulator in the optical test
set.
• Select “Thru” to switch the source RF signal from the
network analyzer directly to Port A of the optical test set.
