Introduction to Programming

System Verification

Running the Verification Sequence

The verification sequence is executed from the L4490A/L4491A Web interface. 

As mentioned in Chapter 3, the L4490A/L4491A must be connected to the PC 

through one of the LAN configurations shown in Figure 2-1. The Web interface is 

not available from the GPIB interface. To use the Verification Board:

Turn off the L4490A/L4491A.

Install the verification board in bank 1 (or the desired bank) of the 34945EXT. 

Securely fasten the verification board within the bank using the terminal 

screws.

Turn on the L4490A/L4491A and open the web interface. Select the ‘Browser 

Web Control’ page. See “Getting Started with the L4490A/L4491A 

Web-Enabled Interface” for instructions on opening the Web page.

Select ‘Allow Full Control’ and in the ‘Browser Web Control’ window, locate 

the bank and Y1156A programming diagram. An example of the diagram is 

shown in Figure 4-8.

From the bank configuration window, select ‘

Preset Bank

’. It may be necessary 

to turn off the channel drive (module configuration window) before ‘

Preset 

Bank

’ is active.

From the remote module configuration window, set the 

Channel Drive

 source 

to “Internal” or “External” depending on the 34945EXT supply and select 

‘

Apply

’. The Y1156A is designed to use +24V supply.

Click the “Create Verification Sequence” button. This button defines the 

verification sequence for the bank and opens the “Sequences...” window. With 

the defined sequence highlighted, select ‘Execute Sequence’ to start the 

sequence. The sequence will pass through the channel list three times. If the 

signal path to the bank and each channel is complete, the LEDs located on 

the board will illuminate as each channel in the list is closed.

Once the sequence completes, set the 

Channel Drive

 source to “Off”. Move the 

Y1156A to the next bank. Click the “Update View” button located in the 

upper-right corner of the ‘Browser Web Control’ window to refresh the Web 

page with the new location of the Y1156A. Repeat steps 5-7 to test the signal 

path to the channels in the next bank.
