Updating the L4491A with Option 002
For L4491As with Option 002 - a second 34945EXT module, steps 1-4 of the
firmware update procedure must be repeated with the L4491A controller box
connected via ribbon cable to the “Control Bus” port of the second 34945EXT.
Steps 5-7 describe how to access the cable and move it to the second
34945EXT.
5. Turn off the L4491A and disconnect the power cord. Remove the top and
bottom covers of the L4491A as shown in Figure 1-1.
6. Facing the back of the instrument, locate the ribbon cable leading from the
controller box to the “Control Bus” port of the master (right side) 34945EXT.
Remove the two screws connecting the ribbon cable to the port (Figure 3-10).
Following a firmware update, Keysight Connection Expert may report
that the L4490A/L4491A configuration has changed. This is represented
by a yellow triangle and an exclamation point (!) next to the updated
instrument. Select the instrument name, select ‘Change Properties’, and
then select either ‘Test Connection’ or ‘Identify Instrument’ to update
Connection Expert.
