Getting Started

Allowable ambient temperature and humidity
Be sure to use this device within the allowa b le temperature range
of 0°C to 40°C and a relative humidity of 3 5 % to 80 %. Using this
device at a temperature or humidity outside the allowa b le ranges
could result not only in malfunction b ut the impact on the CCD
elements could b e serious as small white spots may b e generated.

Strong electromagnetic wave s or magneti s m
Noise may appear in the picture or audio and/or the colors may
b e incorrect if the camera is used near a radio or television
transmitting antenna, in places where strong magnetic fields are
generated
b y transformers, motors, etc., or near devices emitting
radio waves, such as transceivers or cellular phones.

U s e of wirele ss microphone near the camera
When a wireless microphone or wireless microphone tuner is used
near the camera during recording, the tuner could pick up noise.

Avoid u s ing or placing thi s device in the
following place s .

Places su b ject to extreme heat or cold
●
Places with excessive dirt or dust
●
Places with high humidity or moisture
●
Places su b ject to smoke or vapor such as near a cooking stove
●
Places su b ject to strong vi b rations or unsta b le surfaces
●
In a parked car under direct sunlight or near a heater for long
hours
●
Places su b ject to radiation or X-rays, or where corrosive gases
occur

Optical performance of len s
Due to the optical performance of the lens, color divergence
phenomena (magnification chromatic a
b erration) may occur. This
is not a camera malfunction.

Noi s e may appear in the image when s witching
between the playback picture and the EE picture.

If placed on it s s ide, heat relea s e efficiency will
deteriorate.

Precaution s for tran s portation
●
When carrying the camcorder, b e sure to hold the carrying
handle. Holding the lens or viewfinder may result in damage.
●
Do not drop or hit this device against a hard o b ject.

Do not in s ert object s other than the memory
card into the card s lot.
䡵
Do not leave the card s lot cover open for a long
period of time. Dirt entering the interior of the
s lot may cau s e it to malfunction.

Do not turn off the [POWER] s witch or remove
the power cord during recording or playback.
䡵
The camera may not s how s table picture s for a
few s econd s immediately after the power i s
turned on, but thi s i s not a malfunction.

Do not turn off the [POWER] s witch when the
camera reboot s due to the following operation s .
●
Re b ooting when the video/still picture mode is switched while
the [ S Y S TEM S ELECT] menu is set to [720-**]
●
Re b ooting when the [ S Y S TEM S ELECT] menu is set
●
Re b ooting after a setting file stored on the S D card is loaded
●
Re b ooting when the [ S Y S TEM S ELECT] menu is changed
with the default value settings

U s e the s upplied AC adapter a s the power
s upply. Do not u s e the s upplied AC adapter on
other device s .

When the connector s that come with connector
cover s are not in u s e, put on the cover s to
prevent damage to the connector s .
䡵
When thi s device i s not in u s e, be s ure to s et the
[POWER] s witch to A OFF B in order to reduce
power con s umption.
䡵
Wipe the external cabinet of the device with a
s oft cloth. Do not wipe the body with benzene or
thinner. Doing s o may cau s e the s urface to melt
or turn cloudy. When it i s extremely dirty, s oak
the cloth in a s olution of neutral detergent, wipe
the body with it, and then u s e a clean cloth to
remove the detergent.
LCD Screen and Viewfinder

The LCD and viewfinder s creen s are
manufactured u s ing high-preci s ion technology.
Black s pot s may appear on the LCD and
viewfinder s creen s , or red, blue, and/or white
s pot s may not turn off. However, thi s i s not a
malfunction and the s e s pot s are not recorded
on the SD card.

If you u s e thi s device continuou s ly for a long
period of time, the character s di s played in the
viewfinder may temporarily remain on the
s creen. Thi s i s not recorded on the SD card.
They will not appear after you turn the power off
and then on again.
䡵
If you u s e thi s device in a cold place, the image s
may appear to lag on the s creen, but thi s i s not a
malfunction. Thi s i s not recorded on the SD
card.

Do not pre ss again s t the s urface with force or
s ubject it to s trong impact. Doing s o may
damage or break the s creen s .
Handling of SD Card s
䡵
The acce ss lamp blink s when data on the SD
card i s being acce ss ed (recording, playback,
formatting, etc.). Do not remove the SD card,
turn off the power, or remove the battery/AC
adapter during acce
ss .
