The installing contractor is ad vised to become thor-

ough ly fa mil iar with the installation, op er a tion, main-

te nance and ser vice re quire ments of the YORK Para-

Flow™ chill er. Careful study of the fac to ry submittal

drawings and this document is highly rec om mend ed.

Johnson Controls rep re sen ta tives are available to an-

swer any and all questions and to coordinate de liv ery

of the unit and its ac ces so ries.
The local Johnson Controls office must be advised by

the con trac tor of the scheduled start-up time so that

qual i fied per son nel can be made available for that

date. Johnson Controls re quires a minimum of four

weeks advance notice to schedule a unit start-up and

to have the lithium bromide solution delivered to the

jobsite. To help facilitate this action, at the end of this

document is an Installation Check List and Request for

Authorized Start-up Engineer. Please take the time to

properly fill it out at the completion of the installation

and send (or give) it to the local Johnson Controls of-

fice so that a unit start-up can be sched uled.

SITE SELECTION

The ParaFlow™ Chiller/Heater operating weight

should be considered when choosing the unit location.
In selecting a site, consider structural support, access

for service and tube pull area on either end of the main

shell. Tube pull space is approximately equal to the

length of the main shell.
If the chiller is a direct-fired unit, con sid er ation should

be giv en to the stack in comparison to building intake

and exhaust vents, cooling towers, etc. The effect of

wind patterns around a building can create surface

pres sures and eddy currents that could lead to draft

problems or contamination of other systems.
Follow standard engineering practice in designing the

piping systems and other services.

Adequate support must be provided for

system piping so that no weight is placed

on the unit's water boxes and connecting

nozzles.

This manual provides the installing contractor with all

the necessary information to do the following:

Define the scope of his work.

2. Accurately estimate the cost of his work.
3. Assure proper, timely and trouble-free unit in stal-

la tion.

4. Assure satisfactory unit performance after in stal-

la tion.

5. Assure overall customer satisfaction by eliminat-

ing installation delays and unexpected costs.
