Function reprogramming
It’s important to understand the difference be-
tween blue key combinations and function repro-
gramming. Here’s an example: Pressing BLUE +
F1 on an XG4 with the numeric keypad is like
pressing F5 if the XG4 keypad had a physical F5
key. But what does F5 do? Nothing, unless a par-
ticular function has been assigned to it. This is
where

comes in. This handy utility allows users to assign
any available function or any application to a reg-
ular or blue key function.
Program button examples
The XG4 has two unlabeled buttons to the left and
right of the orange SCAN key on top of its key-
pad.
A user might want to use the left unlabeled but-
ton as a Camera key, and the right one to launch
the QuickSupport app.
To do that, go to

Buttons
. Scroll down to the SOFT_LEFT, tap on it
to bring up the choices pop-up, and select Back-
Key. Tap OK to accept, the APPLY, and confirm the
request. Then do the same for SOFT_RIGHT, but
on the pop-up select RunApplication. From that
pop-up select QuickSupport, press OK/APPLY and
confirm. All done.
