10.15 LIMIT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT _______________________________________________
The limit switches control the point that the cutting unit blades start or stop. The limit switches are found on the mower
frame near the lift arms. When the deck is lowered, the limit switch contacts will close and will engage the cutting unit
blades. When the deck is lifted, the limit switch contacts will open and the cutting unit blades will stop.
To adjust the limit switches -
1.
Park the mower on a flat and level surface. Engage the parking brake.
2.
Start the engine. Lift the front deck until the top edge of the front deck is 21 inches (53 cm) above the ground. Lift
the wing decks until the outside edge of the deck is 20-5/8 inches (52 cm) above the ground.
3.
Stop the engine and remove the key. Put supports under the cutting units.
4.
Front Deck
- The front deck limit switch is found on the frame by the right lift arm. Adjust the limit switch so the
sensing area of the switch is centered over the bottom edge of the actuator plate on the lift arm.
5.
Wing Deck
- The wing deck limit switch is found on the frame by the lift arm pivot. Adjust the limit switch so the
sensing area of the switch is centered over the top edge of the actuator plate on the lift arm. Repeat for limit
switch on the other wing lift arm.
6.
The gap between the sensing part of the switch and the actuator plate must be 1/16 - 1/8 inch (0.15-0.3 cm). Add
or remove the shims between the front limit switch and the bracket to get the correct gap. Adjust the position of
the wing limit switch to get the correct gap.
7.
Check the operation of the limit switches. When the decks are lifted past the heights indicated, the blades must
stop.
