10.9 PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT _____________________________________________
Check the parking brake and steering-assist pedals each week.
Check the brake cables, the cable linkage and pivots to make sure
the brakes operate correctly. Replace the worn or damaged
components immediately.
To test the operation of the parking brake -
1.
Park the mower near the bottom of a hill with a 16.7° (30%)
slope. The front of the mower must be toward the bottom of
the hill. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.
The mower must not move with the parking brake engaged. If the mower does move, start the engine, drive the
mower to the bottom of the hill and adjust the parking brake.
2.
When the parking brake disengaged, rotate the adjustment knob to the right side 90 degrees. Engage and
disengage the parking brake. Repeat this step until a “snap over center” action is reached when you engage the
parking brake.
3.
Repeat the test on the hill.
