6.2.3 Checking the Acoustic Link
This last test operation before deployment consists in checking the good operation of the acoustic link between
the remote control unit and the acoustic release AR800 series.
Step Action
1.
First initialize the surface remote control equipment and the receiver mode as indicated in the
“TT301B User Manual” or in the “TT 801 User Manual”.
2
. See individual AR800 series Factory Acceptance Test or the label stuck on the AR800 series.
3. Select the AR8 for
TYPE.
4.
Transmit the ARM+ARM code and check for indication of receipt from the remote control unit.
5.
End of procedure.
If the reception on the remote control unit fails, check the code(s) and repeat the procedure.
Otherwise check that:
•
The dunking transducer of the surface remote control unit does not bump against the hull
of the vessel.
•
The vessel is not moving too quickly causing eddies or turbulence around the acoustic
head.
•
No frequency or code error has been made.
•
Make sure that the dunking transducer is deployed at suitable depth and as far as
possible from any sources of vibrations or potential acoustic noise such as bubbles,
propeller turbulence, water outlets, auxiliary engines…
Note
Please refer to “TT 301-B User Manual” or to “TT 801 User Manual” for further
information.
The acoustic release is now ready to be used. The mooring can be deployed in the water.
The next section concerns the recovery of this mooring.
