6.1.4 Testing the Pinger Mode
Perform the procedure in 6.1.2 with the PINGER ON command.
For the PINGER ON command, the remote control unit displays the pinger rate. After reception of the second
CAF acknowledgement (which confirms the execution of the command), the settings of the pinger are
displayed on the remote control unit. The PFR receiver updates the message
RECEIVING DATA
upon
detection of the pinger frequency and returns the pinger rate measured with the message
PINGER Rate
:
value
in second
.
To switch the pinger mode off, repeat the procedure described in 6.1.2 replacing PINGER ON command by
PINGER OFF and Other CMD for the command type. The acoustic device stops the free running transmitting
mode.
6.1.5 Testing the Simple Ranging Operation
Perform the procedure above with the PINGER OFF or “ARM + ARM” command type.
The acoustic device transmits successively two CAF pulses that are received and processed by the remote
control unit. The ranging information is then displayed.
No other operation then transmitting CAF pulses is expected from the Acoustic Actuator.
6.1.6 Testing the Telemetry mode
Perform the procedure above with the TELEMETRY command type.
For TELEMETRY command, the remote control unit displays the tilt (vertical or horizontal) of the AR800 and the
indication of the battery voltage of the beacon. After reception of the second
CAF
acknowledgement (which
confirms the execution of the command), the message
WAITING FOR DIAGNOSTIC
is posted up until the
completion of the telemetry operation. The AR800 returns several acoustic pulses (Pulse to Pulse modulation)
to transmit information about voltage of the main battery pack and verticality range. Then the remote control unit
displays the status message that comprises the Tilt of beacon (
VERTICAL
or
HORIZONTAL
) and the battery
voltage (Vbat
=
value in Volt).
Note:
VERTICAL
means that the main axis of the beacon housing is vertical, with the upper Acoustic I/O end cap
looking upwards.
