3.8.1

Crane behind the driver’s cab

a)

Fastening of the reinforcing profiles to the chassis must be performed by means of standard shelves (see Figure 3.20), completing
them, if necessary, with elastic fastenings (shelves or flanges) in order to maintain unchanged the flexion and torsion
characteristics of the chassis as much as possible.
The size of the reinforcing profiles to be used for this type of connection are shown in Table 3.6.

b) For vehicles used almost exclusively on the road, where the sub-frame profile height must be decreased, the sub-frame can be

fastened with shear resistant connections. The minimum size of the reinforcing profile for these applications are shown in
Table 3.9.

We recommend using profiles with a constant section along the entire length of the vehicle; the profile section can decrease
(gradually) in the areas where the flexing moment generated by the crane takes the values shown in Tables 3.8 and 3.9.

The crane sub-frame (Figure 3.20) can be integrated in its rear part with that of another structure; the ”Lv” length must not be less
than 35% of the wheelbase if the profile of the structure has a lower section.
