If the product shows evident signs of damage, do not proceed with installation but contact our Customer
Service Center.
Always refer to the codes, regulations and standards locally in force when choosing the installation site
and the hydraulic and electrical connections.
5.1 Inlet and outlet pipe selection
The SINGLEBOX – DOUBLEBOX lifting stations provide for different possibilities regarding pipe inlet and
outlet. Depending on the type of installation and on local regulations, it may be necessary to install a trap
on the pipe that connects to the public/private sewer.
Always refer to the codes, regulations and standards locally in force. For more information, refer to chap-
ter 12.
5.1.1 Vent selection
Remember to provide a vent so as to prevent the buildup of flammable, explosive or toxic gases.
Depending on local regulations, the outlet pipe diameter to vent diameter ratio may vary.
For example, Italian standard UNI 9183:1987 requires that the diameter of the vent be no less than half
the diameter of the pipe (or sum of the pipe cross sections) that carries the wastewater to the station.
Make sure that the vent outlet is outdoors (for instance, above the ridge of the roof if the station is instal-
led inside a building) and that the discharged gases cannot penetrate inside other buildings, rooms or si-
milar locations.
Always refer to the codes, regulations and standards locally in force. For further information, refer to
chapter 12.
5.1.2 Emergency drain system selection
The lifting station basin features a blind hole and the related plastic pipe fittings.
If necessary, this hole can be used to connect a manual diaphragm pump whose discharge pipe must
be independent of the discharge pipe for the electric pumps.
5.2 Non-return valve selection
Install a non-return valve in the pipe that connects to the public/private sewer. This will prevent the back-
flow of the liquid. If you select a ball valve, check whether it is “sinking ball” (heavy) type or “floating
ball” (lightweight) type, as the installation and operating conditions change.
Install the valve at a distance of at least one meter from the lifting station to allow the flowing liquid moved
by the pump to open the valve’s shutter (in any case, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions).
Always refer to the codes, regulations and standards locally in force. For more information, refer to
chapter 12.
5.3 On-off valve selection
Install an on-off valve in both the inlet and outlet pipes (connection to the public/private sewer). This will
enable maintenance operations to be carried out without having to drain the entire system. Either gate
valves or ball valves can be used.
Always refer to the codes, regulations and standards locally in force. For more information, refer to
chapter 12.
5.4 Control panel selection
Make sure that the control panel’s electric ratings match those of the pump.
Improper combination may cause malfunctions and fail to ensure the protection of the electric
motor.
5.4.1 Lifting station with one single-phase pump (without control panel)
The single-phase pump is equipped with a control float, motor protector and power cord with plug. To
operate the pump, insert the plug in the power outlet. On pumps with 1.1 kW rated output, the external
condenser holder is equipped with a switch located near the plug.
