This item explains the purpose of the 3 kinds of seal which are stuck on the display section at the rear
case (case’ rear).

(1) Approval seal

The approval seal is required by the scale certification law.
In the case of replacing the PCBs, and/or changing the country No., scale No., and/or span, it is
necessary to peel off the seal and remove the seal screw to open the case. The seal is of the
“VOID” type which prevents from re-use. After peeling the seal, have the scale certified to obtain
a new seal.

(2) Masking seal

The masking seal is used to prevent water intrusion into the scale from outside through unused
connectors. When connecting with an external device, peel off the seal to apply the connector.
Accordingly, a connector in use for connection with an external device becomes non-water proof.

(3) Ventilation seal

The internal air pressure varies inside the display section due to the electrical heat or
surrounding temperature fluctuation, and it may make the “keyboard sheet” bulging or dented
with the pressure changes. For the countermeasure, the porous water proofing material
“Microtex” is installed.
