Intermec ColorCoder V4 – Installation & Operation Ed. 1

Appendices
Sometimes, it may be necessary to send the printer back to a service
centre for repair or upgrading, or you may need to move the printer
to another facility. It is most important that the printer is properly
prepared and packed before shipping or transporting, especially
when it is impossible to supervise that it is handled correctly.
Otherwise, the printer may easily be subject to costly damage, or an
already exiting damage may get worse.
Always keep in mind that the printer contains a fair amount of liquid
ink, not only in the ink cartridges but also in various other systems.
The ink may leak or, if exposed to air, get dry and clog printheads
and tubes. Thus, it is important that the ink is drained from all
systems before shipping.
Use the original packing material. If something is missing, contact
your Intermec distributor. Do not ship the printer without proper
packing material.
Proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the printheads
• Remove the PHS cover (see 4.1:6)
• Tilt up the white plastic cover (see 4.3:1)
• Disconnect the four head connectors from the tube station (see
4.3:2).
• Put back the caps and the polyethylene bag on the head connec-
tors (see 4.3:2).
• Put back the four transportation connectors on the tube station
and tilt down the white plastic cover (see 4.3:1).
