Replacing the Power Supply
Caution: The power supply is NOT hot-swappable. Before removing or replacing the power supply,
you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to
the system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power
cord from the system or wall outlet.
You can replace the power supply if it fails or if one of the integrated fans in it fails. To
replace the power supply, use the following instructions.
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety
Information” on page iii .
2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see
“Removing the Server
System Cover” on page 28 .
4. Disconnect all power cables connected to the server board and peripherals.
5. Remove the screws secured the power supply.
6. Lift up the power supply from the chassis.

7. Insert the replacement power supply into the server.
8. Secure the screw you removed in Step 5 to attach the power supply to the
server system.
9. Connect the power supply cables to the server board and peripherals. See Figure 38 .
10. Install the server system cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Server System
Cover” on page 29 .
11. Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server.
