If option 230 (or an alternate option code specified on the clock) is not configured
on the DHCP server, the clock will receive an IP Address in the usual fashion but
the settings for Time Server, Time Zone, DST, etc. will come from the
clock’s
internal configuration (i.e., the settings set via command line in a telnet session
or, if none, then the default settings from the factory).

contains an example of how
to configure options on a Microsoft DHCP server, such as the one that is bundled with
Windows 2003 Server. It is for reference only. It is assumed that skilled IT personnel
are the only people authorized to edit DHCP server settings.
