Appendix C –
OBDII Option
The gas analyzer has an optional feature to read the tachometer value from an OBDII scanner. To use this
feature you must have an adapter and scanner from Infrared Industries. The adapter plugs into the serial
connector on the back of the analyzer. Each adapter is configured to be paired to a specific OBDII Bluetooth
scanner.
Make sure the labels on the adapter and scanner match when using this feature
.
When using this feature the Serial Port configuration must be set to
obd2.
See Chapter 1 on how to configure
the serial port.
To use
this
feature:
The Serial Port configuration must be set to
obd2.
See Chapter 1 on how to configure the serial port.
Connect the serial adapter to the back of the analyzer.
Plug the OBDII scanner into the vehicle.
When the vehicle is turned on the RPM values will be displayed on the analyzer. (Make sure the display
is configured to show RPM values). If you do not see the values go into the Menu on the analyzer and
check the serial port setting.
If a tachometer cable is plugged into the analyzer at the same time as the serial adapter then the analyzer
will show the readings from the tachometer cable and not the OBDII.
