Setting the Test Count

Test Count is the number of cycles to be made in Test Mode before the IMPAX unit shuts off the
machine.  This feature is used for the operator to jog the machine while setting up the job.  The
IMPAX unit does not count parts while it is in this mode.  To set the Test Count, press the
Enter/Yes key.  The next display will show “TEST COUNT      XXX” where XXX is the
maximum number of parts to be made while in Test Mode.  The maximum number here can be
999.  100 is the default value and is recommended for most applications.  Once you have the
correct number entered here, press the Enter/Yes key.  The next display is “SET COUNT
CHAN?”

Setting the Count Channel

This feature allows the user to select which channel is to be used to generate the parts signal.
Channel 1 is set by default, and is desired in most applications.  However, if a more accurate
parts count is desired you should select the channel associated with the last forming (finishing)
operation.  To activate this feature press the Enter/Yes key.  The next display will show
“COUNT CHAN  -- 1”.

To change this number just type the correct number over it.  Then press

the Enter/Yes key.  The next display shows “SET LINK/INDEX?”

Setting the Link/Index Feature

This feature allows the user to select the INDEX or LINKING capability of the IMPAX unit.
INDEX is intended to be used only on Somavis headers.  LINKING is used as a special function
on some multi-station headers for special applications.  You cannot turn them both on at the
same time.  Both of these features are normally turned OFF.    Press the Enter/Yes key and the
next display will show “SET DOWN CODES?”

Setting the Down Codes

This feature allows the user to activate the tracking of user-defined down codes.  When this
feature is activated, the IMPAX unit will not allow the operator to restart the machine without
entering a code to define the time period during which the machine was not running.  This data
can be viewed and cleared with the Function (#) 7 and Function (#) 8 keys.  See additional
information in Advanced Operator Functions.  This Downcode Information can be uploaded to a
Personal Computer if the IMPAX unit is attached to IMPAXNET.

To activate this feature, press the Enter/Yes key.  The display will show “DOWN CODES OFF.”

The Next/No key can be used to toggle between On and Off.  When the appropriate selection is
made, press the Enter/Yes key.  The next display will show “DEFINE TAGS.”

Defining the Tag or Identifier Headings

Tags, or Identifiers, are used to track data which is relevant to the production process.  Typical
Tag entries are Shop Order Number, Job Number, Wire Number, Tool Number, etc.  These Tag
