GLOSSARy Of TERMS
Accelerometer:
An electronic device integrated into the flight controller that works in conjunction with the gyros to
help stabilize the quadcopter during flight.
Altitude Limit:
The maximum altitude (328 feet) the quadcopter can fly from the Home Point before the Failsafe
function activates.
Antenna:
Transmits the RF signal from the transmitter to the receiver in the quadcopter.
Audible Trim Switch Tone:
An audible Tone that is emitted from the transmitter each time a trim switch is pressed.
When you press a trim switch, a short audible tone is heard. When a trim switch is centered, a longer audible tone
will sound.
Auto-Hover:
The act of keeping the quadcopter at the same altitude and in the same general position for a period
of time using the GPS Auto-Hover function. When in the GPS Flight Mode, the GPS can hover the quadcopter
automatically without any input from the user and do so much more precisely.
Autonomous:
A rotor-drone that follows a preset path using GPS or other means, as opposed to being actively
steered by radio control. The Mars series quadcopter is NOT autonomous.
Balance Charge:
A method of charging Lithium batteries that charges each cell that comprise the battery pack to
the same voltage.
BEC:
An acronym for Battery Eliminator Circuit. This is an electronic component that allows the main battery to
power both the motors and the receiver and flight controller, in addition to the camera gimbal (if equipped). This
saves weight by negating the need of using a separate battery to power these accessories.
