means that a memory upgrade module cannot be used in conjunction with a
multimedia upgrade module.
Memory Upgrade:
Your computer has 2 MB of video memory (SGRAM) soldered
to the system board. You can upgrade the video memory to 4 MB total with a
Matrox memory upgrade module (daughter card).
Multimedia Upgrade:
Your computer supports Matrox Rainbow Runner
multimedia upgrade modules. These upgrades are available in several
configurations:
Rainbow Runner VIDEO, which includes features such as a hardware Moving
Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) and Audio Video Interlace (AVI) decoder
snap-on module; Video Out for displaying PC applications on your TV; Video
In for capturing video from external devices; and accelerated DirectDraw video.
Rainbow Runner TV, which is a cable-ready, Plug and Play, ISA adapter for
PC-based multimedia applications. It enables you to watch TV in a window on
your computer Desktop, and it supports 125 cable channels at full National
Television Standards Committee (NTSC) frame rates. This option must be used
in conjunction with the Rainbow Runner MPEG or Rainbow Runner VIDEO
options. Features of Rainbow Runner TV include an ISA TV tuner board for
viewing high quality TV on your PC, support for up to 125 channels, support
for closed captioning, and easy programming of TV channels.

IBM marketing representative.
Video Adapters:
The computer system board has a VGA VESA feature connector
that supports special function video adapters, such as the ReelMagic TV tuner and
MPEG decoder adapters. For information on installing adapters, refer to Installing
Options in Your Personal Computer.
Using Audio Features
Your computer has a stereo audio controller on the system board that enables you
to record and play back high-quality sound on your PC.
Other audio features in your computer include a built-in, high-quality speaker and
four audio jacks (or ports). The jacks are industry-standard, 3.5 mm mini-jacks.
(The jacks are also referred to as 1/8" mini-jacks). A description of these jacks
follows. For the location of the jacks, refer to the illustration included in this section
and the illustration on page 10.
