The following illustration shows the installation of a hot-plug adapter.
Attention: When you handle Electrostatic Discharge-Sensitive devices (ESD), take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these
devices, refer to the following Web site and use a search term of ESD:

To install an adapter:
1. Review the information in “Safety” on page v.
2. If you are installing a non-hot-plug adapter, turn off the server and disconnect all
cables.
3. Remove the top cover.
4. Select a slot, open the tab and adapter retention latch, and remove the expansion-
slot cover.
5. Open the adapter-retention cover at the rear of the adapter assembly.
6. Install the adapter in the slot; then, close the tab and adapter retention latches at
the front and rear of the adapter.
7. Install the top cover.
8. If you installed a non-hot-plug adapter, connect all cables and power cords.
