The Instructions in this section are for both the 60w and 180w Solar/Power Battery
Backup Systems.
Some components of the solar panel system are heavy and/or awkward to handle.
This is not a job for one person. Always have at least one helper on hand for heavy
lifting or to assist in the event of an emergency!
Installing this equipment requires a
user-supplied
concrete pad, a ½-in. x 8-in. J-Bolt &
Nut, and (8) 3/8-in. X 3-in. Tapcon® concrete anchors. This system is designed to be
bolted to a concrete base that has been poured directly into the ground. Follow all
local zoning ordinances, building codes and regulations when constructing the
concrete base but it
must have a minimum diameter
of 14” and extend at least
36
”
below ground level.
It is important the entire mounting surface of the concrete pad be level and flat. If you
are not practiced at working concrete
–
enlist the help of a contractor or professional
to ensure proper installation.
5.5.1.
Insert the J-Bolt into the center of the wet concrete leaving 1-1/4in
(32mm) of the threads extending above the surface. Use a Screed Board or
similar process to make the top surface of the concrete flat and level all
the way around. Secure the J-Bolt in place until the concrete has
completely hardened.
5.5.2.
Verify that concrete has been curing for at least as long as the
manufacturer recommends and that it has properly hardened per
instructions. DO NOT RUSH THIS STEP!
