17.5.23  Installing the piston

Move the joints of the compression ring and oil scraper ring

so they are offset by 1 80

°

.

Place the oiled piston on the cylinder.

-

Clamp the piston rings together using the special tool.

I 

Piston ring compressor (60029015000)  (

IUI 

p. 313)

- Tap lightly on the piston ring compressor from the top with a

plastic hammer so that it lies flush with the cylinder.

✓ The special tool must press the piston rings together

properly and lie flush with the cylinder.

-

Drive the piston into the cylinder by striking it carefully with

the hammer handle.
✓ The piston rings should not catch or they will be dam­

aged.

Mount timing chain guide rail

✓ The timing chain guide rail engages in recess  fj.

✓ The holding lug
