5–2 Hardware installation

Avoid installing the modem in a location where the ac power cord
or input/output (I/O) cables could be accidentally disconnected.
The location should be well ventilated. Do not set equipment on
top of the modem or block its cooling vents. If the UMOD will be
mounted in a 19–inch rack install the UMOD mounting shelf in
the rack by performing the following procedure:

1.

Place the rack mount shelf in position in the rack.

2.

Secure the shelf in position with the four mounting screws
provided.

Inspect the shipping containers for external damage. Note any
damage before opening the container. Report equipment damage
to the shipping carrier immediately for claim purposes. Save all
packing materials in case you need to return an item to the factory
for servicing.

You will need the following tools and materials for installing the
Universal Modem:

Flat blade screwdrivers, assorted sizes

•

Phillips screwdriver

•

Input/output (I/O) cables

•
