4.5.3 Connecting a Multi-Port Cable
Introduction to a Multi-Port Cable
Use a multi-port cable to connect a client or USB device to a server node in the
chassis.
The server node provides a universal connector port (UCP), which can be
connected to a multi-port cable. The multi-port cable has the following connectors
on one end: one DB-15 VGA connector, one RJ45 serial port, and three USB 2.0
(compatible with USB 1.1) ports. The port functions are as follows:
●
DB-15 VGA connector: connects to the VGA port on the client.
●
One RJ45 serial port: used for commissioning. This port can be set as the
iBMC serial port using the CLI.
●
Two USB 2.0 connectors: connect to the USB keyboard and mouse on the
client to provide KVM functions.
●
One USB 2.0 connector: connects to a USB storage device, for example, a USB
DVD-ROM drive or hard disk.
